A female smalltooth
sawfish recently photographed off Marathon.
Notice the healed
wound on its right pectoral fin, perhaps made during a mating attempt by
a male or from a past encounter with a predator.
All four photographs
are of the same fish, resting in 117 feet of water (35.7 m). Its
length was estimated at between 15 to 16 feet (4.5-4.9 m) in length.
